Sunday

Something I drew at work today when I was pretty bored. I had to stop when the (only) pencil got too blunt to continue.

The First Week end!!

I arrived this morning at about half ten, my manager Hannah came to meet me on a golf buggy. The weather was extremely mild bordering on rather warm which is unusual to me in February! The summer must be immense. As I flew over in the helicopter I noticed how lovely and clear blue the sea was, it was like the mediteranean!
Hannah has informed me no one ever locks the doors the island is so secure. And that's what I noticed as I was walking around, the doors are all open to everyone's room, laptops on show etc. Bike locks don't even exist here. I'm still not used to the not locking my door and keeping tight hold of my possessions thing, well I have lived in Teesside so guarding my stuff and being overly protective comes as second nature to me. It kind of feels like University halls here. It is quite lonely at the moment, it is only my first day though. I had dinner with Magda the Polish girl I will be working with in the lesuire spa and Ben who is the supervisor of the Flying boat club bar and Illana who is a Welsh girl who works on the bar. Food here seems like a treat, a New Zealand man called Rob is our chef. The flying boat club staff (and there are only a few of us) get a chef who cooks meals. Because I am vegetarian he asked me to make a list of foods that I like so he can whip me up something tasty, I don't think he's used to cooking vegetarian so I think he was worried of his meals for me would get boring. I'm also uncomfortable with the idea of having a personal chef and requesting stuff...even though he's getting paid for cooking for me. We are also allowed to go into the kitchen and grab anything we want like fresh fruit, yougerts, you get treat like a king! We are allowed to sit in the luxurious flying boat club restaurant upstairs when we eat. I am allowed to use all of the facilities for free including the high tech gym...as if I've ever used a gym, after about 5 minutes on a treadmill I'd no doubt be gasping for my life. I'm also allowed to use the pool. I might go in the pool tomorrow actually with my new nautical H&M bikini. I don't think fashion exists much here, which is nice because I can claim the place of the island fashionista. (My case was over three times the allowed amount due to the sheer amount of clothes I have brought. The man said I have more than two people's allowance of what we're allowed to bring). Today I got my own bike for my island stay and cycled round a bit of the island, went to the Abby Gardens, I could of spent a bit longer in there though it's so beautiful. Well anyway, I have a day off tomorrow then on Monday I am doing a full day which I excited for and also quite terrified.

These are all the photos of Pentel Bay when I cycled to the South end of the island. So beautiful!
