The First Week end!!

I arrived this morning at about half ten, my manager Hannah came to meet me on a golf buggy. The weather was extremely mild bordering on rather warm which is unusual to me in February! The summer must be immense. As I flew over in the helicopter I noticed how lovely and clear blue the sea was, it was like the mediteranean!
Hannah has informed me no one ever locks the doors the island is so secure. And that's what I noticed as I was walking around, the doors are all open to everyone's room, laptops on show etc. Bike locks don't even exist here. I'm still not used to the not locking my door and keeping tight hold of my possessions thing, well I have lived in Teesside so guarding my stuff and being overly protective comes as second nature to me. It kind of feels like University halls here. It is quite lonely at the moment, it is only my first day though. I had dinner with Magda the Polish girl I will be working with in the lesuire spa and Ben who is the supervisor of the Flying boat club bar and Illana who is a Welsh girl who works on the bar. Food here seems like a treat, a New Zealand man called Rob is our chef. The flying boat club staff (and there are only a few of us) get a chef who cooks meals. Because I am vegetarian he asked me to make a list of foods that I like so he can whip me up something tasty, I don't think he's used to cooking vegetarian so I think he was worried of his meals for me would get boring. I'm also uncomfortable with the idea of having a personal chef and requesting stuff...even though he's getting paid for cooking for me. We are also allowed to go into the kitchen and grab anything we want like fresh fruit, yougerts, you get treat like a king! We are allowed to sit in the luxurious flying boat club restaurant upstairs when we eat. I am allowed to use all of the facilities for free including the high tech gym...as if I've ever used a gym, after about 5 minutes on a treadmill I'd no doubt be gasping for my life. I'm also allowed to use the pool. I might go in the pool tomorrow actually with my new nautical H&M bikini. I don't think fashion exists much here, which is nice because I can claim the place of the island fashionista. (My case was over three times the allowed amount due to the sheer amount of clothes I have brought. The man said I have more than two people's allowance of what we're allowed to bring). Today I got my own bike for my island stay and cycled round a bit of the island, went to the Abby Gardens, I could of spent a bit longer in there though it's so beautiful. Well anyway, I have a day off tomorrow then on Monday I am doing a full day which I excited for and also quite terrified.

These are all the photos of Pentel Bay when I cycled to the South end of the island. So beautiful!

I am moving away tomorrow to the Isles of Scilly (30 miles off the coast of Cornwall)with mixed feelings of terror and excitement. I always wanted my life to be full of adventure after hearing tales of my mam's life of travels, she seems to have lived here and there and travelled in so many places.
After graduating from University in July, I've just been tucked away in a little Teesside Bubble, living in a cosy comfortable nest of chocolate shop employment, yet this sometime became a yawn-worthy exisistence, not really being able to see the world due to lack of funds & try and scrape my way through life on painfully little money. So this opportunity for a pretty cool experience came to me to live on a beautiful exotic island and get paid for doing a job, so I took it... and I sit here now with a massive case almost the same size as me laid out on the floor, a Nike rucksack (old school bag) and a butterfly patterened holdall all full of ...mainly art materials, which will hopefully see me through for nine months. I have my little Boofle to keep me company on the 8 hour train journey(we are riding first class la-di-da!)SO I suppose I had better get to sleep and wake up early.

My weekend has consisted of - attending a masquerade ball, having a nightmare where I got crushed by a pile of giant ten tonne potatoes, working in the chocolate shop, drawing, charity shop shopping and hanging out with the 'boyf' or at least that is what Mizz magazine would call him. I miss Mizz magazine, I wish I could of been a cover girl at some point in my teen-hood, although I can't say I was much of an attractive 13 year old with my curly fringe and gawky facial expressions. I went from being super big blue eyed pretty at about ten years old, extremely shy of the opposite sex, only showing them affection through means of inflicting pain, to age 13/14 that awkward adolescent stage where I just deliberately so it seemed, tried to make myself look as ugly as possible i.e. budgies, sports clothing, untamed head of hair, adolescent angst to whatever I am now, now I'm just constantly frustrated with my hair mainly
Me and Dan watched The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy last night, we were both very tired though he was falling asleep on my shoulder due his narcoleptic disorder and I was totally not understanding what was going on because we'd missed about half the film and I wish I had read the book first. So all in all it was not a successful film watching experience. Prior to this I ate over half a tube of lime and chili pringles so my mouth tasted as though I had just downed a whole bottle of washing up liquid. However the good thing about the wtaching of this film, it reminded me of my love for Zooey Deschanel, so here are some pictures to conclude the blog...

most of the pictures I fond of her are of this side of her face, she must favour her left side but I'm sure her right side is just as nice

ah love her

Becoming a 'Twit'

I signed up to twitter the other week, it's pretty rubbish really. I only have a few followers and one of them is 'the sex shop' whatever that is. The bad things about twitter for me so far are as follows

  • The majority of my 'tweets' are food related
  • I am not a celebrity thus rendering I lack 'fans'
  • It is highly addictive and even though you know no one will see it you tweet something anyway
  • I should probably be more cautious of letting my personal details and life story be known on the Internet after my stalker from work found me on facebook and has bombarded me with emails, he said to me the other week "you're the nicest person I've ever met", "you're such a good friend to me, one of my closest friends" and 'I just don't know what I would do without you"which suggests if I don't add him as a facebook friend he will top himself. The only sort of contact I've had with him is him coming into the shop literally every weekend three times a day, hanging around not buying anything, asking me a load of pointless questions while I'm trying to work and breathing heavily while staring at me.
